First Monday Consultants
In 1993 we began meetings of independent consultants based mainly on membership of the Association of MBAs. Our aim was to help people who were interested in becoming consultants or were already in business as independent consultants learn from each other, support each other, and provide opportunities to each other.
The group in London spawned groups elsewhere - Barry received the Chairman's Award for Outstanding Contribnution to the Association.
The consultants of firstmonday aren't therefore an organisation so much as a movement, which began in 1993. The group assembles generally on the first Monday evening of each month in London for informal networking and the occasional presentation. We swap stories and leads and give encouragement to those just starting out on a career in independent consultancy. If the first Monday is a bank holiday, we usually meet the following day.
The key to the group is that we're like-minded people with complementary and overlapping skills and two things in common - we all have specialised consulting skills - many have an MBA - and the desire to carve our own businesses by helping companies in any of a multiplicity of ways.
Meetings over the years have attracted MBA students, consultants and interim managers from around the world.
